Network via your Facebook friends. Let your friends know you’re job seeking, and don’t forget to include your preferred job title. Join alumni Facebook groups and get in touch with former co-workers.
Tweet about your expertise. Establish yourself as an industry expert by tweeting news and comments about your industry. Follow companies and individuals in your field, and thoughtfully reply to their tweets.
Join LinkedIn groups. In addition to completing your LinkedIn profile, resume, and list of achievements, join industry and alumni groups related to your job search. As soon as you join the groups, jump in and start participating in the groups’ conversations. Be helpful and generous with your knowledge, and you will soon have new contacts across the country.
